Between new haircuts, updated styles, slicked locks and lots of ombré, hair certainly stole the show in this week's celebrity beauty round-up. Nicole Richie set the pace with her first official appearance since she took a trip down fringe lane (hubby Joel Madden didn't notice — ah, men), while Kate Middleton mixed things up with wavier hair than usual (not to mention that pregnancy glow). But it wasn't all about hair. Isla Fisher totally stole the show at The Great Gatsby world premiere, thanks to her bright red lips and cats-eye liner — see that look and more when you click through!
Happy 29th Birthday, Alexa Chung!
Happy Birthday Alexa! Our favourite Brit model-turned-TV-presenter-turned-designer became a worldwide style icon pretty much as soon as she chopped her locks back in August 2007— it was her very own Linda Evangelista moment. Everyone sat up and took notice of this naturally gorgeous girl who's become as famous for her winged eye — "The only make-up technique I’ve managed to master,"— and slightly dishevelled hair as she has for her finger-on-the-pulse style choices. Whether she's rocking some heavily-rimmed kohl eyes, a red lip or that signature wing, she always manages to look effortless, edgy and elegant all at once. Check out her transformation from Westlife video star to big time icon in our celebratory birthday gallery.
Kristen Stewart Rocks Heavy Liner in Tokyo
Kristen Stewart sizzled in a Louis Vuitton jumpsuit yesterday at a Tokyo photo call for Breaking Dawn Part 2, but it was her heavy eyeliner and tousled hair that we loved most. Kristen wore gel eyeliner with a very pronounced wing, a look that is easy to get at home using a gel pot and an angled brush. We love the Mac 266 Small Angle Brush ($39), simply dip gently into the gel pot and wipe off any excess, then slowly sweep from the inner corner of your eye, all the way along your lashline. Because the bristles are perfectly formed to create a sharp, precise line, moving the gel out into a winged liner look is so simple. Click through to see Kristen's makeup look up close and personal.
3 Clever Ways to Wear Eyeliner (Beyond Just Winged)

Winged eyeliner will always be a classic. But if you're looking for something that revolts against the cat-eye craze, then reach for these simple runway designs. Round, square, and barely there are just a few options beyond the iconic eyeliner flick.
1. A Roundabout Way: Instead of doing a wing at the end of your liner, try this oval edge seen at Giorgio Armani (left). The rounded shape is a great way to connect top and bottom liner, and it elongates the eye. Get a rough-and-tumble feeling by smudging the liner with fingers; an imperfect line reads sultry and sexy.
2. Be a Square: To get the modernised block shape seen at Kenzo (top right), draw a boxy outline with liquid liner and fill in. The trick is to align the bottom of your rectangle with the top lash line. Otherwise, your graphic could get buried in the crease.
3. Inside Out: Defining eyes doesn't require loads of eyeliner, as evidenced by the minimalist liner look at Guy Laroche (bottom right). Take on the tight-line technique and keep product on the waterline, honing in on the inner corners. Then, wiggle a soft pencil between lashes to fake fuller fringe. Top off with a berry red lipstick for extra elegance.

Trouble Perfecting Winged Eyeliner? These Stickers Will Help!
We called it here first. After we stumbled across Eye Rock ($11.35) stick-on eyeliner transfers, we said it wouldn't be long before other brands followed suit — after all we were devastated when Dior's super-limited edition Velvet Eyes version came and went in the blink of an eye last year — and now Glam by Manicare has. Next month the brand will launch its Couture Collection: two packs of velvet and crystal eyeliner tattoos. Hypoallergenic and easy to apply, they stay in place with lash glue which is included in the kit. They're a foolproof way to wear winged eyeliner if it's a technique that you've struggled with in the past. Will you give them a whirl when they come out?
2012 Met Costume Institute Gala: Emma Stone

Emma Stone looks impossibly cute at the Met Costume Institute Gala. First up we're loving her teased and textured up 'do that's perfectly accessorised with some black and jewelled over-sized hair slides. Then there's the peach blush which works so well on her skin tone. And then there's the liquid eyeliner which she's proving to be quite the fan of — she rocked it at the Oscars and now it's back again. All in all it's a winning look, wouldn't you agree?

Lauren Conrad Debuts a Hot Pink Ponytail: Love It or Leave It?

Lauren Conrad took cute and flirty to whole new levels on Tuesday night, wearing winged-out eyeliner and a bright pink ponytail at a signing for her latest book, The Fame Game. Earlier in the day, Lauren took to her Twitter account revealing her plans to go pink, saying, "Trying to convince @Kristin_Ess [her hairstylist] to dye my tips fuchsia for tonight's book signing..." Ess responded through her Twitter page by joking, "Fuchsia Barbie it is." But the play on memorable childhood toys didn't stop there. Lauren later Instagramed a picture of the style, calling it "My Little (pink) Pony." Lauren is no stranger to far-out hair colours; she's done everything from peach to blue to rainbow-streaked strands. But what do you think of her latest look?
