Makeup at the Oscars was a little more traditional in 2012, but that didn't stop Hollywood's finest from keeping up with the trends.

Makeup at the Oscars was a little more traditional in 2012, but that didn't stop Hollywood's finest from keeping up with the trends. Winged eyeliner is practically everywhere these days and it took the red carpet by storm at the year's most-anticipated red carpet event. Every other starlet seemed to be sporting her own version of the look and the shapes ranged from Jennifer Lopez's chic double-winged style to Zoe Saldana's stretched-out cat-eye and Petra Nemcova's blackout lids. Take a gander at the coolest looks that took wing now and try the try yourself.

Much has been made of her gown being similar to Nicole Kidman's Balenciaga Oscars frock from 2007, but we're here to talk hair and makeup.

Much has been made of her gown being similar to Nicole Kidman's Balenciaga Oscars frock from 2007, but we're here to talk hair and makeup. Picking subtle colours, perhaps to let her dress do all the talking, Emma Stone wore a sparkling light lilac eyeshadow that had a touch of iridescence to it, which was topped off with winged liner and a pink lip tint. Russian model Irina Shayk looked gorgeous at the MTV Europe Music Awards wearing her hair pulled back into a high ponytail complete with flicked-out ends. She worked the dual-texture hair look which we've been seeing on the runway for a few seasons now — the top strands were slick but the ponytail had a raw, natural-looking texture. On her eyes Irina sported a wash of gold which was topped off with winged liner and a nude gloss. What do you think of Irina's look?

2011 MTV Europe Music Awards: Jessie J

Jessie J may have taken a walk on the wild side with her frock at the MTV Europe Music Awards but the "Domino" singer stuck to a classic combo of winged liner and red lipstick when it came to makeup.

Jessie J may have taken a walk on the wild side with her frock at the MTV Europe Music Awards but the "Domino" singer stuck to a classic combo of winged liner and red lipstick when it came to makeup. Adding her own spin to the look, Jessie J's top-lash liner was a sparkling midnight blue and the "wing" also extended down the inner V of the eye towards the bridge of her nose. The hair has a 1920s flapper feel to it with big-bodied curls. What do you think of it?
