In the past year, Zooey Deschanel has started to emerge as one of Hollywood's biggest lovers of all things nail art. While the star's Golden Globes tuxedo-clad nails were something to remember, Zooey tuned into her TV roots for the 2012 Emmys. "We wanted keep it soft and fresh but sparkly," says celebrity manicurist and consulting nail expert at L'Oréal Paris, Tom Bachik. "So we went with a soft Summer tone personalised with glitter, Swarovski crystals, and hand-painted TVs on featured fingers."
To achieve the exact look, start with a thin coat of the brand's Coulour Riche Nail Color in Tweet Me, a canary yellow, topped off with a coat of Sweet Nothings, a subtle peach, to soften. Next, use a chunky silver metallic lacquer on random areas of the nails, fading the glitter out. To finish, apply Swarovski crystals in the glitter areas to form a peach "galaxy." Then, paint on retro-inspired TV sets on the thumbs for a whimsical touch that will get you noticed.

What are the chances that two of our favourite awkwardly cute celebrities might just wax lyrical about their potential nail art designs for the upcoming Emmy Awards? We've been watching Zooey Deschanel and Girls' Lena Dunham chatting on Twitter about what their nails might wear to TV's night of nights in the US — which may or may not include a "gingham tablecloth nail theme laden with fruits" — um, love. We're always on nail art watch when Zooey steps out on the red carpet, with our favourites including her tuxedo nails at the Golden Globes and her more recent foray into red, back and gold, so we're loving the fact we can add Lena into the mix! This news most definitely calls for a Zooey Deschanel nail art gallery. Happy Friday!

The adorable lemon design was created by Chi Nail Bar in Beverly Hills and combined glitter, stripes and a 3D diamante bow on both ring fingers. The salon is known for its creative nail design and also counts Paris Hilton and Jessica Alba as fans, so expect to see more of this futuristic take on the manciure on a red carpet soon. Photo
