We're hereby naming this week the week of the chop. With major three major stars taking the leap and chopping their hair — or parts of it ‐ off, it's evident that stylish manes are the main event in celebrity beauty right now. From Michelle Obama's fabulously full fringe, to Nicole Richie's practically perfect lob — we think she took inspiration from the Karlie Kloss-owned "haircut of the year" — there were so many looks that we loved this week. Also taking up residence in our top ten? Jennifer Lopez with her glowing natural beauty, Willa Holland and Rihanna with bold lips, and one perfect ponytail that we can't wait to try. Dive in to this very beauty-full celeb world to see the rest!
When it comes to celebrity hair and makeup looks we love, the awards season never fails us. In fact, it's been such a busy week for all our favourite beauties that we've had to bump our weekly top 10 round-up to 20 — yep, that's how good lookin' it's all been. In between the Golden Globes, where Miranda Kerr completely stole the show in her berry ensemble, the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala, where Revenge's Ashley Madekwe wowed with her clear skin and bright eyes, movie premieres and more, we were sitting pretty with a slew of amazing celeb looks to steal. And one thing was blindingly obvious: everyone loves a berry lip. Whether it's a bright pink strawberry tone, or the exact colour of a squashed mulberry, pink-toned lips still rule the beauty school. So many looks to steal, so little time! You better start clicking now . . .
The annual UNICEF Snowflake ball drew a star-studded crowd in New York last night, with Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and more putting on their party best to support and honour the charity's lifesaving programs. Opting for a striking moody look, Katy kept her hair sleek and simple to accompany her Naeem Khan caped gown, while Selena Gomez, Selita Ebanks and Allison Williams all chose bouncy waves for the occasion. From classic red lips to modern metallic eyes, there's nothing like a black-tie function to get you inspired for the holiday season. Check out all the beauty looks inside our gallery!
Kristen Stewart showed off her vampy style — and smile! — at the On The Road premiere at the AFI Fest in LA over the weekend, putting her spin on the hottest colour to hit the runway for Winter 2013, oxblood. Her statement deep red lips were matched with a metallic burgundy eye, and while we don't usually encourage playing up both your lips and eyes at the same time, Kristen pulls off the look with ease. A side swept, textured and knotted hairstyle, along with rich burgundy nails, completed her red carpet look. Check it out up close (with zoom!) in our gallery.
Rose Byrne flew the Aussie flag at Tropfest New York on Saturday, and although the spotlight was on the short films (Josh Leake won for his film Emptys), we couldn't help but be drawn to Rose's softly tousled bob. Last time we spotted the actress she was rocking blunt bangs courtesy of hair guru Harry Josh, who deemed the look the "return of the haircut," but it seems she's swapped the dramatic cut in favour of a more relaxed 'do. There's a lot to love about this hairstyle — the colour perfectly blends her chocolate locks with subtle highlights and the waves are feminine yet textured— but what really impressed us most is her side swept fringe. If you're growing out blunt bangs follow Rose's lead and don't be afraid to add volume and waves to a side part. The result is a more natural, less helmet-like look which works on most hair types.
The higher the hair, the closer to God, ain't that right Lana Del Rey? The "Blue Jeans" singer was outside her hotel in London over the weekend sporting a retro 'do and exaggerated winged eyeliner, reminding us of Amy Winehouse's signature beehive hair and 60s makeup look. Lana's rumoured to be the new face of H&M but this look was after her performance at the Isle of Wight Festival where she performed on stage with a similar volumised 'do. We're used to seeing Lana play around with her beauty looks — in 2009 she went bleach blonde for Keds and matched berry lips with her nails at this year's Met Gala — but this eye-catching style really caught our attention. What do you think of Lana's bouffant hair and kohl-rimmed eyes, love it or leave it?
We're always keeping a close eye on birthday girl Lara Bingle's beauty looks, and with the weekly installments of Being Lara Bingle, we're getting a lot inspiration from the model turned reality starlet. Whether it's a statement red lip — always in the perfect orange/coral colour way — or textured (but not frizzy) hair, BFF and makeup artist Max May has done a stellar job at keeping her look both inspiring and attainable. Check out our gallery for some of Lara's best looks over the years, and a big happy birthday to our favourite Aussie bombshell.
It was only last week that we spied January Jones with her shoulder-length blonde locks at the Young Hollywood Awards, but as she strolled the streets of LA today it was a different story all-together. The Mad Men actress debuted a freshly dyed longer 'do, though there's no word on whether the style switcheroo is due to an upcoming movie role or personal choice. January's never shied away from experimenting with new hair colours — she joined the pink brigade back in March and has played with various shades of red over the years — but this is still a dramatic change we weren't expecting. What do you think of January as a red head? Tell us in comments!
Get ready for a garden party of the floral variety, because botanical-garland headbands are having a moment. A few months back we saw Katy Perry and Vanessa Hudgens donning boho-style head-toppers at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival, and most recently, stars like Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst, and Ashlee Simpson have been spotted in flowery wreath hair accessories. Wear them paired with your hair down in flowing waves, or tossed back casually in a braided up 'do. Shop the look now!
Gwyneth Paltrow is no stranger to high fashion, and her hairstyles are always a sleek match. We teamed up with her stylist, Giannandrea, who showed us the unbelievably easy bun he created for her Met Gala appearance. It's the epitome of effortless-looking elegance — and a style that's synonymous with easy, laidback chic. Products in US dollars.
