We've all been there: Your alarm wakes you from a deep, peaceful sleep, and you're just not ready to pour yourself out of bed yet. So you hit snooze. And then you hit it again . . . and again. Then you're scrambling to pull a comb through your hair, apply mascara, and get yourself out the door before you're late to work. But just because you have a limited amount of time to get ready doesn't mean you have to rush or completely skimp on your beauty routine. To find out how to look your best, even when the clock is ticking, just keep reading.
The warmer weather always has us trading in our powder formulations for a dewy finish, so if you haven't made the switch already, now's the time to invest in a cream blush. It doesn't mean spending a fortune though, with prices starting from just $9.99. And the best bit is, most crème cheek colours can double as a lip colour, too. So whatever your budget, shop this makeup essential now!
Lucy Liu proved that she's got the golden touch at today's CFDA Fashion Awards. The Kung Fun Panda 2 actress wore a wash of gold all across her eye area, which was finished off with a half lash on the outer corner of the eye for added definition. Her dewy complexion was given a pop of pink on the cheeks, with Liu also wearing a pretty peony pink lip colour. Hair-wise, it was all about the braided up 'do, which was worn to one side. Do you like Lucy's look?

When you think of Jennifer Aniston, your first thought is often hair. She started the most-copied hair trend of the '90s — the "Rachel" cut — and has been famed for her locks ever since. But look a little closer — forget about the mane for just a minute — and you'll see one kick-ass complexion that we've been wanting to know the secret to for years. And today is the day we finally get to find out, because Jen has opened up her makeup bag for us to have a looksee!
And inside it's packed with Dr. Hauschka, a holistic skincare line that centres around rose as its hero ingredient. Jen says: "This natural skincare range really suits my skin. It’s very soothing and smells exquisite." Try the cult Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream ($58).
Also making an appearance is Bobbi Brown Sheer Colour Cheek Tint ($60) because Jen prefers "a natural look during the day," and that's just what this sheer cream blush gives cheeks. Jen loves the "lovely, rosy glow" that it imparts, and we have to agree! So know you know how Ms. Aniston steps out looking so fresh-faced every morning. Will you be following in her footsteps quick smart or are you not too influenced by what celebrities use?
Rachel Bilson can probably be accused of playing it a little safe when it comes to her makeup look. But, it's such a cute look that we can't hate on her for it. She always walks the line between girly and sexy and day and night with ease, taking her eyes a little darker and edgier, but keeping her lips and cheeks nice and creamy and pink. It's a look that suits pretty much everybody, and a great one to learn if you're after a day-to-night look. Check out our tips on recreating Rachel's style below . . .
FACE: Rachel's complexion always look fresh and natural so opt for a lightly tinted moisturiser like L'Oreal Paris UV Perfect SPF 30+ Tinted ($17.95). We love this one as it offers UVA/B protection or Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturiser ($43.95).
EYES: By using brown eye shadow, Rach keeps her smoky eye sexy yet wearable. She lined her eyes with a charcoal shade and there's even a hint of silver on her lids for a bit of shimmer, plus loads of mascara to finish it off. To get the look, try Too Faced Eye Shadow Single in Sitcom Siren ($32.95).
Sadly January Jones was MIA but both Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks brought their A-game to the premiere of Mad Men Season 4. Elisabeth went for a fresh and pretty look: a shimmering wash of nude on the lids and brow bone, creamy pink on the apples of the cheeks and a super glossy pink on the lips. Try Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Soft Shimmer in Champagne ($33), BECCA Crème Blush in Hyacinth ($48) and Max Factor Vibrant Curve Effect Lip Gloss in Trend Setter ($20.95) for a similar effect. Meanwhile Christina amped up the sex kitten vibe with a feline eye and racy red up 'do. Vanessa Scali created her look using NARS products. Standout pieces were the Douceur Blush and Coconut Grove Shadow from the Fall collection. Both winning looks, but which one do you like best? Hmmm. It's a toughie.
Cream blushes can be a bit intimidating if you’ve never used them before but if you’re keen to extend your horizons beyond powder, you should give Max Factor Miracle Touch Cream Blush ($17.95) a whirl. It's great for beginners as it comes in four soft shades that aren’t too overpowering and are forgiving if the application is not perfect.
The colours: Soft Copper, Soft Murano, Soft Pink and Soft Candy
The trial: This creamy blush was super-easy to apply with fingertips. I dabbed it on the apples of my cheeks (remembering to smile first) and blended it in, in a circular motion. I didn’t need to use heaps either–just a dot would suffice. The blush is very sheer, so if you’re after a bolder look, it's best to apply a couple of coats.
The finish: Sheer and fresh! It didn't dry to a powdery finish, but it certainly didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. I was able to achieve the perfect dewy look easily. I probably wouldn't recommend it for those with oily skin or those who prefer a matte finish though.
Would I wear it again? You bet!
Stockists: Max Factor (1800 181 040)
The sun is shining which means it’s the perfect time for a cream blush.
Preferably a soft pink one in the spirit of the S/S 2010 collections.
But I’ll leave the colour choice up to you so long as we all agree that summer is the perfect time to trade in those powdery blushes for a dewier finish.
A dot of any of these beauties on the apples of your cheeks will leave you looking fresh as a daisy. Like Anne – doesn't she look pretty and happy?
That's because of the blush.
