Autumn can be a tricky one in terms of how the weather shapes up but there's no denying it, when the cool change hits our hair and skin can start to play-up! This week we've been looking for products that will keep us looking glossy, shimmery and well-moisturised from head to toe. Face serums, bronzers and lip treatments are just a few of the Autumn essentials we're coveting right now and our fashion editor, Ali, for one, is also looking to mix up her 'do. Come see our (right now) top beauty picks!
Fashion week may have ended last week, but it hasn’t stopped us dreaming about all the to-die-for beauty looks we spotted on the runway. So, it's really no surprise we made a beeline straight to the lip looks. We’ve also picked some essential must-haves that we just couldn’t live without (of course!). It's time for some TLC, come see…
The Sugar team welcomed a new member this week — Steph! She's our new health and beauty writer, so lookout for her name on both Bella and POPSUGAR Health & Fitness. Aside from new staff member excitement, we're also gearing up for a weekend of relaxation before fashion week on April 8. Of course we need new nail polish, makeup and hairstyling products to go alongside our Easter eggs! Click through.
We highly doubt we have to introduce this girl. She's one of Australia's fastest rising stars thanks to her role in Puberty Blues oh, and you might recognise her sister's name — Abbie? We met Isabelle Cornish at the Kérastase Paris Cristalliste haircare launch and can we just say: she is so funny, grounded, polite and ridiculously good-looking IRL. Click through to read our chat about her favourite products, beauty regime and more. It's true love.
It truly is a crime not to prime, because there's no better way to stop makeup seeping into your pores and clogging them up than using a primer. The texture also helps smooth any lumps and bumps, giving you a clean palette to get to work on with your favourite products. Speaking of favourites, we're long-time fans of Dermalogica's Skin Perfect Primer SPF30 ($65). The silica helps to fill in those fine lines (shudder), and the added pearl powder and soy protein will assist in evening out skin tone. We're giving away 15 of the gems and to enter, all you have to do is Like us on Facebook and then tell us in the comments section below: After applying primer for all-day staying power, what's your favourite foundation to put on top? This giveaway has ended.
We've got one Sugar fresh-off-the-plane from Mexico, another newly entering the rejuvenating world of facials, and one considering a drastic haircut. We couldn't be more excited — it's all about The Chop right now. Our beauty editor smells like an actual lady (she usually opts for a man scent, you see), and our celebrity editor is taking her love for Chloé perfume to pint-sized heaven. Click through.
It seems March is a very popular month amongst the beauty pack. It nearly broke our hearts narrowing down the top 10, must-have beauty products, so we decided to go to 15! There's a magical Spring 2013 colour collection from Yves Saint Laurent that will blow your mind, some rich and vampy new lipsticks from Tom Ford, a power serum packed full of vitamins from Dermalogica, a natural skincare range from Nivea, and so much more. Phew! Credit cards at the ready...
"I have combination skin and I'm so very confused about how to care for it! Moisturisers, night creams, day creams, retinol, eye cream, microdermabrasion, blah blah blah. They all mean the same to me! I know they do different things but I can't figure out what order to use them in, and if you can use two different products together. So my question is, what should I use on my combination skin in the morning and at night when I want to control the oil, help erase fine lines and prevent ageing?" – Mary
If you have oily skin, the last thing you want to put on your face is more oil, right? Think again. Using the right oils can actually help moisturise acne-prone skin and balance your sebum production. "Plant and nut oils are ideal for moisturising an oily skin type," explains Annet King, director of global education for Dermalogica. "Essential oils from plants, roots, and flowers also have the added benefits of calming and soothing skin, while maintaining antibacterial and aromatherapy properties." In turn, botanically derived oils help to replenish barrier lipids that get stripped away during harsh weather conditions. And because they're lighter in texture, these antioxidant-packed types of oils won't clog follicles. See more tips on using facial oils on oily skin when you read more.
We're kicking-off Australia Day with none other than the beautiful Kate Ritchie. The ex-soapy star and radio presenter is now hard at work on a different aspect of the media and entertainment industry — writing — but she's also set to sit back in the acting chair for a new ABC drama. We spoke to the stunning brunette about her favourite products and found out what it's like to live a day in her life.
