Day cream is one of the most-used skincare products in our routine because it's an essential step — it can never be skipped! For that reason, we tend to go through a lot of it. This high turnover pulls at the purse strings but it doesn't have to be this way. There's some stellar (and arguably better) face creams under $25 that we think you should try. The most important thing? That you still apply a normal, 50+ sunscreen as well. Look no further than the supermarket or your local chemist for these budget skincare steals.
The stories about Crème de la Mer are legion. The skin cream is famously luxurious, having developed a devoted following almost solely by word of mouth. A friend of mine met a wrinkle-free 60-something who credited her smooth skin to the original Crème; she bought a jar the next day. I've met more than a few celebrity makeup artists who won't start their work before massaging Crème de la Mer into their clients' skin. At $250 per 30mL, it's not for the light of wallet — but it's well worth the money. So what goes into a jar and why is this cream so famous? Read on to find out.
Following the INSANELY successful launch of Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, the $50 anti-ageing cream that took on the $300 wrinkle busters and won, Olay launched Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum late last year. Infused with the highest concentration of Regenerist’s signature amino-peptide complex, it's Olay Regenerist's most powerful anti-ageing product to date, leaving skin as firm as a $500 serum. Never has the quest for younger-looking skin been so effective and so purse-friendly.
And it gets even better, because this week we've teamed up with the Olay Regenerist peeps to offer five lucky BellaSugar readers the chance to win both the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream (valued at $49.99) and the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting 3D Serum (valued at $49.99)! Ca-ching!
Firmer, nourished and younger-looking skin could be yours, so what are you waiting for? To be in with the chance of winning one, just tell us how old you were when you started to notice the first signs of ageing. Did you spot some crow's feet when you hit 30? Were you sobbing over your first fine lines at your 21st? Don't be shy . . .

Is your bestie's favourite movie Valentine's Day? Does she applaud PDAs? Does she ooh and ahh over anything that is heart-shaped? Are roses her favourite flower? Packed with rose-a-licious treats, heaps of heart-shaped things and beautiful finds that just scream love-o-rama, she'll absolutely adore any of these gifts for Christmas! We love, love, LOVE them!
Say hello to your new BFF . . . STEAMCREAM. It's a light, non-greasy face-body-and-hand lotion that uses an extremely rare manufacturing process: stream-infusion. This old French technique allows the ingredients to loosely bind together so that they absorb into the skin quickly and immediately get to the areas that they're designed to benefit. The base of the emulsion is oatmeal so it's super soothing and great for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis or any other kind of skin irritation. Orange flower and glycerine hydrate also deeply moisturise, while almond oil, jojoba oil and cocoa butter soften the skin. But the brand is known for its super kitsch packagaing as much as its innovative technology, rolling out over 100 aluminium tin designs since its launch in 2007. Five limited edition designs will hit Australian shelves this month with a view to update and replace them every month. Cute, huh? Which one's your fave?
It's the luxury crème on everyone's wish lists. Victoria Beckham swears by it. Sienna Miller calls it "amazing." And I for one couldn't agree more. Created over 40 years ago by an aerospace physicist called Dr. Max Huber, it pioneered the use of sea kelp as a basis for Miracle Broth™, the potent seaborne elixir that helps nourish, heal and renew the skin. As its formulation is so entwined with the sea, La Mer proudly supports Oceana, the world's leading ocean advocacy organisation. And to celebrate the fifth year of this partnership, La Mer has, for the first time EVER, changed the colour of its iconic pot — going blue to reflect the ocean. This is a HUGE deal as it's never been done before, so the ones that go on sale are seriously limited edition . . . Tempted? I've got to say that a big blue pot of Crème de la Mer interests me far more than eating or paying rent for the rest of the month the year my life.
The limited edition Crème de la Mer blue pot ($645) will be sold in June for one month only. Stockists: 1800 661 392
Back in 2008, Chanel created the heavenly Hydramax+ Active range, which boosts the skin's hydration systems thanks to an ingredient called Ceratonia PFA. Without proper hydration, the skin barrier can be compromised which not only sounds bad, is bad. Skin becomes fragile, it lacks protection and all in all just looks gnarly. You need to feed it up with water and lipids to ensure that this doesn't happen and I'd heavily recommend Chanel's latest addition to the Hydramax+ Active range: Nutrition. The three-piece range — there's a lovely rich Nourishing Cream ($109), the first-ever lip balm ($52) and a mask, too ($79) — features Ceratonia PFA, plus rosemary liposomes to help balance natural cell renewal, cottonseed oil extract to help restore the natural skin barrier and rose wax, to prevent against future dehydration and damage.
The Chanel Hydramax+ Active Nutrition is available from May 16.

I am so into product reviews. It's like having someone on hand with the exact same skin type, texture and concerns as you, who was born around the same kind of time (so totally gets your love for Neil Young/George Michael/Tiffany) who has already been out, bought the product, tried it and decided if it's good or not. What's not to love?
In your 40s, your face loses volume around the cheeks and your lips get thinner, so you have the constant appearance of a sad lady even if you've just won $10mill on the lotto. Now, Lancôme has really set itself up as a leader in skincare with heaps of great technology under its belt. The most recent being the GF-Volumetry™ complex which keeps skin cells in constant communication, an absolute must if the skin's structure and shape is to stay the same as when you were in your 20s. It's featured in Lancôme Rénergie Lift Volumetry Volumetric Lifting and Shaping Cream SPF15 ($175) and this is what we thought about it . . .
"Quite simply, you lose face as you age—skin doesn’t bounce back readily. With gravity and time tugging at your complexion, you need some serious fight-back with some serious muscle. Lancôme’s Rénergie Lift Volumetry is a hydrating and firming moisturiser that restores shape to ageing skin. It feels quite lush and restorative on the skin without a trace of greasiness.
