10 of the Best: Summer-ise Your Base With Tinted Moisturiser

The weather is warming up, which means it's time to start thinking about which makeup items you'll be keeping by your side come Summer, and which ones you'll be leaving behind.
Switch Foundation For Tinted Moisturiser This Summer

The weather is warming up, which means it's time to start thinking about which makeup items you'll be keeping by your side come Summer, and which ones you'll be leaving behind. I always recommend lightening your coverage in the warmer months (hot, humid days plus cakey foundation do not make a pretty pairing) and trading in your foundation for a tinted moisturiser. They provide a natural-looking, often dewy, finish which is perfect for warm weather. Shop our top 10 and share your picks, too!

That's Hot. Nicky Hilton's Painful Reminder That SPF Is a MUST

Seriously Nicky, what gives?

Seriously Nicky, what gives? I'm not sure whether to be more disturbed that you actually let yourself burn this badly or that you're showing off the fire-y skin with quite so much gusto. Hmmm. I thought Kim Kardashian's infamous sunnies mark would've been enough of a reminder to wear sunscreen at all times but I guess not. So, Nicky, if you're reading this; SLIP, SLOP, SLAP. There are heaps of daily sunscreens out there that are lightweight and sheer enough to wear daily. Try NEW Neutrogena® Healthy Defence® SPF 30+ Daily Moisturiser ($17.95), Hissyfit Body Double ($45), NIVEA Light Feel Lotion SPF30+ ($10.99) and NEW Banana Boat EveryDay SPF 30+ ($14.95). Do you wear SPF every day? Please say yes.

Bella Quiz: Were These Brands Created by a Man or a Woman?

Most beauty products out there are used by women.

Most beauty products out there are used by women. But that doesn't mean that they were all designed by women. Sure, you have the legendary Elizabeth Arden, Coco Chanel and Bobbi Brown who have changed the face of beauty forever but you also have Max Factor, Charles Revson (of Revlon fame) and François Coty doing it for the boys. Coty of course, being the world's largest fragrance company behind scents from Marc Jacobs, Kylie, Calvin Klein, Chloé, Jennifer Lopez and more. Today we're putting your knowledge to the test in a battle of sexes quiz to see if you know whether these beauty brands were created by a man or a woman.

New Formulation: Ella Baché Great Suncover 30+ Foundation

Thanks to great advancements in both the sunscreen and makeup categories, a whole range of SPF 30 tinted moisturisers are on offer from the likes of Invisible Zinc, Stila and Hissyfit, but what about those who want more coverage?

Thanks to great advancements in both the sunscreen and makeup categories, a whole range of SPF 30 tinted moisturisers are on offer from the likes of Invisible Zinc, Stila and Hissyfit, but what about those who want more coverage? Who aren't happy with such a sheer formulation?

Well that's where the newly-formulated Ella Baché Great Suncover 30+ Foundation ($50) comes in. It's now available in four colours: cream beige, light beige, medium beige and dark beige, and features light-reflecting illuminators so that you get medium coverage, radiance and protection.

To ensure that it's comfortable for all-day wear, it's enriched with green tea (known for its antioxidant properties), jojoba oil (which really nurtures the skin) and lanolin (which helps prevent dehydration by protecting the skin against moisture loss).

Things I love about it: it offers medium, matte coverage that really lasts; I know that it's protecting my skin to the highest degree as shielding skin from the harsh Australian climate has always been the focus behind Ella Baché products; and, being fair-skinned, it's always hard to find an SPF 30 base product that actually matches my skin tone, but Light Beige does so perfectly. Remember to pop it on 20 minutes before you're heading outside.

Do You Switch Up Your Beauty Routine in the Summer?

In addition to applying a higher SPF (which I hope you all do anyway), do you make any other changes when it comes to your beauty routine in the warmer weather?

In addition to applying a higher SPF (which I hope you all do anyway), do you make any other changes when it comes to your beauty routine in the warmer weather?

Personally, I'm all about the extra moisturiser — especially chilled lotion or aloe gel after a day at the beach — to keep skin silky smooth and hydrated. Also I like to tone it back and scale down from foundation to tinted moisturiser. Hissyfit Saving Face ($55) is one of the best I've found. And nail-wise I go for a sheer, pearly colour as opposed to a darker tone.

What about you? Any changes that you make or do you just keep it the same all year 'round?

Bella Reviews: Hissyfit Body Double

I'm just gonna throw it out there: when's the last time you wore sunscreen on your body when you weren't hitting the beach?

I'm just gonna throw it out there: when's the last time you wore sunscreen on your body when you weren't hitting the beach? I'm guessing around the time that your mum still applied it for you. See, as much as we slap, slap, slop the SPF on our face (fearing the leathery look), we tend to forget about our body. Rookie error, my friends. Rookie error.

Allow me to correct it for you. This is one of my all-time favourite products: Hissyfit Body Double ($48). Why has it reached those dizzying heights of fame and glory? Well it's quite simple really. It has SPF30 + UVA/UVA broad spectrum protection, but the key thing is, it smells and feels just like a regular moisturiser. If that "regular moisturiser" is a wonderful fusion of vanilla and citrus deliciousness.

It contains cehami which is a native Australian daisy that's been used by Aboriginal tribes for years because of its soothing properties. I can't get through the day without it. And neither can Oprah. Reggie Wells, Oprah's makeup artist, loves using the whole Hissyfit range – which includes tinted moisturiser, hand cream and lip balm – on her so much that he signed on as a celebrity spokesperson. How's that for endorsement.
