Let's face it, if anyone can pull off an array of race-style hats when it's not race season, it's gotta be royalty, right? We've noticed Kate Middleton sport a smorgasbord of headgear recently — from pill-box styles to fascinators and everything in between — so we thought it was time to zone in a little closer. Often favouring half-up, half-down hairstyles to compliment her accoutrements of choice, Kate's custom-made headgear has a real knack for turning heads. Step inside our gallery for a closer look.
Whilst we spent our long weekend snuggled indoors scoffing lamb shank, Kate Middleton had a jam packed weekend full of official events and stellar ensembles. We saw her on Friday in that super femme Jenny Packham gown, then over the weekend she did a spot of outfit recylcling, dragging out her trusty blue jacquard jacket to wear to Prince Phillip's 90th birthday, and worked double duty on a stylish black fascinator for a friend's wedding and the Trooping of the Colour ceremony in London. Backing it up, Kate then stepped out at the Order of the Garter Service in Windsor yesterday in this elegant pale grey get up, which she topped off with a standout Phillip Treacy head piece. Kate Middleton is just like us (well, almost!). She shops at chain stores like Reiss, Zara and Whistles, she does her own grocery shopping, and the face that she goes without a lady in waiting is part of what makes her so widely appealing. That modesty stretches to her wardrobe. She could choose to be a clotheshorse and sport a different outfit on every occasion, but we're seeing a refreshing sense of loyalty to things she loves. Case in point: this purple jacquard coat made an appearance in 2009 for a friend's wedding, she wore it again this weekend to celebrate Prince Phillip's 90th birthday. To boot, she paired it with the blue Zara dress she wore the day after her royal wedding! For a friend's wedding over the weekend, Kate chose a black fascinator to go with her black and white printed dress; it's the same fascinator she wore to the Trooping the Colour ceremony, marking Queen Elizabeth's birthday earlier in the day. Kate Middleton is known for her gorgeous, glossy mane, which she often complements with a wide array of fascinators and hats. In the lead up to the wedding of the century — where it's been confirmed that we'll definitely see a Philip Treacy hat or two — we thought we'd take a look back at ten of the best headpieces seen on the Princess-to-be.
