Oh Spring, you magical beast you. You've got us all smiley and happy — so much so that we didn't even wear a jacket to work today! We're all busy planning our Summer holidays and all that "research" about tropical islands, sun, sand and the all important Cocktail List, has slowly found its way not only into our fashion cupboards, but our beauty ones, too. Tropical beauty is as fresh and delicious as it sounds, with yummy ingredients like monoï and coconut topping the list. Then there's names like Tiki and Hibiscus that just make us feel plain happy. Let's go, beautiful.
In honour of tonight's Vogue Fashion's Night Out in Sydney, we're dedicating this week's editors picks to all things Spring/Summer fashion. We promptly consulted Fab editor Ali, who dished the trends and top colours she saw emerging from the shows, and adapted them to makeup! Genius, right? It's a little bit different to our regular run down of what's hot in beauty right now, but we did see some crossover with neon and pastels hues. Click through to see our top 8 runway to makeup trend transformations!
While everyone else may have been talking about the movie, we were busy spying on the hair and beauty looks on show at the Hollywood premiere of Total Recall yesterday. Jessica Biel has been rocking some very feminine looks of late, and we loved her take on nail art with cute silver half-moon nails. Wearing a pastel pink polish with what looks like nail wraps on top, Jessica's cool nail look is easier to get at home than you think. You can't go past OPI Mod About You ($16.96) for that perfect pastel pink, and then all you need to do is use a scalpel tool (or small manicure scissors) to cut little half-moon shapes out of Nail Rock Metallic Designer Nail Wraps in Silver ($10.93) and stick on the top half of your nails. Apply your favourite glossy topcoat and voilà — Jessica Biel's red carpet mani!
She's made no secret of the fact she loves to play around with nail art and cute colours for events, and Zooey Deschanel's red, gold and black nails were a standout feature of her red carpet style once again at the ESPY Awards in LA today. Although it might look complicated at first glance, Zooey's nail art design is surprisingly easy to do at home. Find out how, after the break.

Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating 60 years on the throne this weekend and, we don't know about you, but we think that's quite the cause for a celebration! Turns out, so does the beauty world. Butter London and No. 1 Perfume were amongst the first to fête the occasion and now many more have followed suit. We've already had some morning tea in her Majesty's honour and we'll be continuing the celebrations this weekend with the latest round of British beauty buys. From a Union Jack eyeshadow that has Kate Moss' seal of approval to a Queen's guard-adorned version of our Winter skin saviour Steamcream, there's plenty to get you into the party spirit!
You've seen all the hair and makeup looks from Fashion Week but now it's time to check out the nails. And let us tell you, you won't be disappointed. Last year may have been about the nude nail but this year we saw just about anything but neutrals. There were hand-marbled nails, fun takes on the classic French manicure, reverse moons, gold-dipped tips, statement nails, pearlescent finishes and multi-coloured manicures. See 25 plus nail looks from the week now.
We told you that three Australian designers — Romance Was Born, Ellery and Gary Bigeni — would be collaborating with Nail Rock for Fashion Week and now you can get your hands on the designs. Some were used in the actual runway show, while others were designed just for the goodie bags. But if you weren't sitting front row, you needn't miss out. The Nail Rock Designer Collection is available for a limited time exclusively on ASOS and features three designs from Romance Was Born, three from Ellery and two from Gary Bigeni. A mix of florals, graphic prints and pops of fun colour, there's something for everyone. Check the designs out up close now.
All designs are $13.26 each.
Last minute changes made for a more pared-back beauty look at Ellery. Clive Allwright (KMS California) created a simple, undone style with the point of difference being in the juxtaposition of textures. It was fluffy and dry up top thanks to KMS California Hairplay Makeover Spray and wet in the bun. St Tropez Wash Off Mousse evened out models' skin, giving a natural-looking glow. For the makeup, Napoleon Perdis was inspired by Australian childhood memories. "It's clean, fresh skin, much like Kym Ellery herself." Skin was prepped with Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum and Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer before Off Duty Tinted Moisturiser (part of the brand's new Nude Bar collection) was applied. To highlight cheeks and provide that fresh, youthfulness to skin, Perdis applied Auto Pilot Lip Service with Ice Storm Loose Eye Dust Over the top. In-keeping with the clean, fresh theme, nails were nude. Nail Rock Nail Wraps in Pantone 7509HC were used.
