This new, frosted quartet is Kit Cosmetics' latest limited edition collection. It's extremely pretty, wearable and on-trend so if I may throw a suggestion out there: buy it/them. The iced mint shade (second on the left) is an online-exclusive which you can pick up at Kit Cosmetics from Monday, 8 March. I'm loving the pale pastel palette, particularly the iced lavender, are you?
Every now and then something arrives at my desk and reminds me what a kind and caring world we live in. Yesterday it was Support Scent, a range of products that has been developed by Kit Cosmetics in association with Guide Dogs Australia to raise money and awareness for guide dogs and the visually impaired. The unique campaign features a fragrance ($5), body wash ($22.95), body lotion ($29.95) and fragranced soy candle ($44.95), all of which appeal to the visually impaired's heightened sense of smell. All products are simply gorgeous.
Support Scent will be available at Kit Cosmetics from Monday, March 8, with all proceeds from the fragrance going to Guide Dogs Australia and $2 from the sale of each auxiliary product being donated to the cause, too.
I LOVE Bloom's Designer Collection series which, in the past, has seen great polishes from Sneaky Sound System, Bettina Liano and Yeojin Bae. Now, the brand introduces The Cassette Society I (a denim blue) and The Cassette Society II (gunmetal grey), both of which I've fallen head over heels for. Katie Boyd and Tania Rickards, the girls behind The Cassette Society, said of the collaboration: "[It] gave us the opportunity to create two shades that are the perfect accompaniment to our Winter 2010 Why Can't I Be You collection—an ode to the It-Girl, to her alternative posh-for-a-punk styling, her rouge lips, her iconic overnight case customised with her handstenciled skull, spilling with records and crazy getups and painted nails in gunmetal grey and denim blue. And we love the fact that $2 from every shade is donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation giving us the opportunity to mix our love of fashion with a great cause."
The Cassette Society I and The Cassette Society II are $19.95 each.
L'oeil de Chanel ($90), Miss Dior Cherie EDT (from $120), MAC Spring Colour 2 Forecast (from $22; available from March 15), Benefit Bathina Take a Picture, It Lasts Longer ($55; available from March 14).
When Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper join forces, you just know it's going to be good. Back in November, I mentioned that the new Viva Glam spokeswomen would be launching their own lipsticks and here they are: Viva Glam Cyndi (a mid-tone dirty coral) and Viva Glam Gaga (a light blue-pink lustre). Both lipsticks retail for $35 each, with every cent going directly towards the MAC AIDS Fund which has raised more than US$160 million in the fight against HIV/AIDS. As for what the pretty pair had to say about their new shades, Cyndi revealed that hers is "a really fabulous red," while Lady G said, "It’s very me—a bluish pink, great for everyday, a little bit '80s. I hope that women buy this lipstick, and honour themselves and honour the cause."
Psst. Don't you just love the signature on the casing? That's a first for MAC, y'know.
You know you're special when Peter Philips, Chanel's Global Creative Director of Makeup, is so captivated by your beauty that you're the focus of his new, limited edition collection. Which means Bondi Beach (Chanel's latest muse) must be feeling pretty happy with herself. The super-duper limited edition collection (available from April 18 for just two weeks exclusively in Australia) features Aqualumière in Bondi ($46) and Aqualumière Gloss in Bondi Bronze ($46), both of which hone the natural golden tones of Bondi Beach to impart a sun-kissed glow. Be prepared to call 1300 CHANEL and beg your little socks off to get on the waiting list.
I am so into product reviews. It's like having someone on hand with the exact same skin type, texture and concerns as you, who was born around the same kind of time (so totally gets your love for Neil Young/George Michael/Tiffany) who has already been out, bought the product, tried it and decided if it's good or not. What's not to love?
In your 40s, your face loses volume around the cheeks and your lips get thinner, so you have the constant appearance of a sad lady even if you've just won $10mill on the lotto. Now, Lancôme has really set itself up as a leader in skincare with heaps of great technology under its belt. The most recent being the GF-Volumetry™ complex which keeps skin cells in constant communication, an absolute must if the skin's structure and shape is to stay the same as when you were in your 20s. It's featured in Lancôme Rénergie Lift Volumetry Volumetric Lifting and Shaping Cream SPF15 ($175) and this is what we thought about it . . .
"Quite simply, you lose face as you age—skin doesn’t bounce back readily. With gravity and time tugging at your complexion, you need some serious fight-back with some serious muscle. Lancôme’s Rénergie Lift Volumetry is a hydrating and firming moisturiser that restores shape to ageing skin. It feels quite lush and restorative on the skin without a trace of greasiness. In 10 days time you can officially channel your inner Chanel like Lara Bingle with the hotly-anticipated Trompe L'oeil de Chanel ($90). The temporary tatts, which last a few of days, are applied pretty much like any other temporary tattoo and are easily removed by rubbing with a cream or lotion.
Created by Peter Philips, Chanel's Global Creative Director of Makeup, and inspired by the luxury brand's Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection (see images from the show below), the skin transfers feature decorative designs like pearls, chains, sparrows, blossoms and the famous interlocking C's.
Now, 72 percent of you were initially open to the idea of sporting them, so do you plan on getting 'inked' now that they've arrived?
So hopefully you know the deal by know about the fabulous little promo that Kit Cosmetics is running online: the one where, during the month of February, you have one week (and one week only) to get your hands on a truly, truly limited edition nail shade each week.
Well given that Week 1 (a Chanel-esque jade) sold out in just two days, Week 2's red-hot offering was the perfect hue for Valentine's and Week 3 saw me wanting to sail a yacht all the way to Santorini, I wondered what Kit could/would pull out of its glamorous bag this week.
This is it, the final February exclusive: Ibiza Nights. Perfect for kicking up those heels and dancing the night away, the magenta with a hint of shimmer rounds off what has been one of the most exciting limited edition collections that we've seen in a long while. I'm excited and sad all at once.
Kit Cosmetics Nail Polish in Ibiza Nights ($15.95) will be available online from February 22 to February 28.
What with New York Fashion Week going full steam ahead, it's easy to forget that February should also be remembered for giving us some amazing new product launches, like the online-exclusive MAC in Lillyland collection. Now, when we heard about MAC pairing with Lilly Pulitzer, it did strike us as a little odd, the makeup brand normally being one to team up with the cool cats like Marilyn Minter (and Dame Edna, of course). But upon seeing Lilly's signature, preppy brights and swirls of florals in the Pearlmatte Face Powder ($46) and Pearlmatte Eye Shadow ($40) we didn't care. The easy way to brighten up a dull day. What do you think?
