News Now: Lisa Ho to Close Down

Much-loved Australian fashion label, Lisa Ho, has announced this morning that it will close. Rumours have been swirling of financial troubles for months, and while negotiations with possible investors have been circulating, the focus is now on closing the remaining Lisa Ho Group stores.

A final sale of current designs, evening and bridal wear is now on at the Strand Arcade store in Sydney, Wintergarden store in Brisbane and David Jones stores throughout Sydney and Melbourne. You can also shop the sale online, and take a final look at the MBFWA collection here.

Best in Show: Dion Lee Announced as the Australian Regional Winner of the International Woolmark Prize

Australian designer Dion Lee, 26, was announced as the Australian Regional winner of the International Woolmark Prize in Sydney last night. He was up against Australian designers including Magdalena Velevska, Carl Kapp, Ellery and Song For The Mute for the coveted $50,000 prize, but Vogue editor Edwina McCann says Dion was chosen because his brand has the whole package. "The judges had to consider who was best placed in terms of the development of their business and creative skills to represent Australia in the final round of competition in London in February 2013."

The International Woolmark Prize is awarded for excellence using Australian merino wool, and designers from America, India, China, Europe and Australia compete for the $100,000 winner's prize money and the opportunity to have their label stocked in iconic fashion stores including Bergdorf Goodman and Harvey Nichols.

Dion will represent Australia in February, 2013, and told the Sydney Morning Herald he's excited to have his work seen on the international stage. "I've been working on giving my brand a global platform, so it will be extremely exciting to see my work represented with other international designers on a global platform." Congratulations Mr Lee!

Known for its avant-garde clothing and accessories, the brand has been worn by celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker - she's been spotted sporting Margiela's famous cleft-toe booties - Rihanna and Gwen Stefani. We had a feeling that this was coming after Jenna Lyons let slip that J.Crew was expanding their international shipping to include 107 countries by March (that had to include Australia, right?) back at New York Fashion Week. J Brand Goes Beyond Jeans and Jumps Into Sportswear

We love our J Brand jeans just as much as any other girl and soon there will be more reason to shop the line, with the news that J Brand will be launching a whopping 140-piece sportswear line in 2012, filled with leather jackets, tops, pants, and skirts. The line will be headed by new design director, Donald Oliver, whose past accolades come from DKNY Jeans, Vera Wang, Gap and Calvin Klein. “From day one, we wanted her [the customer] to be easygoing, uncomplicated, subtly sophisticated," said Oliver. "We wanted her to feel relevant, not trendy, not like she’s trying too hard, which is why I think the garments have an ease about them.” Prices are set to range from $200 and $1,500 and, from what we've seen, includes a modern and minimal palette of cool leather jackets, tops, and skirts. The seat at Dior has been left empty since John Galliano was ousted for racist remarks, but it looks like LVMH chair Bernard Arnault might be close to announcing a new successor for the French brand: Marc Jacobs. According to WWD, Bernard Arnault is currently is in serious talks with Marc Jacobs about becoming the new designer for Dior, but where does that leave Arnault's other big brand, Louis Vuitton? Apparently, Phoebe Philo is said to be first in line to take over the title at Vuitton, and, if she does, she will also maintain her position at Céline. In the midst off all of the shuffling, would you be excited to see Marc Jacobs design for Dior?

Next in Line To Collaborate With H&M? Leigh Lezark!

H&M's next collaboration isn't with a big-time designer. It's with a relatively under-the-radar personality: cool girl, model, and the Misshapes DJ Leigh Lezark. It's a smaller-scale collab that will be limited to England; Leigh and H&M are creating its first-ever store-within-in-a-store at Selfridges in London, set to open Aug. 25. Leigh will also curate an exclusive collection of her favourite clothing and accessories for the store. "My philosophy on both beauty and fashion is to be yourself and find your own style, so for me, the new edited-down H&M at Selfridges is an ideal shopping destination," said Lezark. "The curated pieces are, I feel, modern classics everyone should have in their wardrobe - and I have tried to throw in some colour, too!" We think it's interesting that H&M is doing smaller collaborations - who would you love to see H&M collaborate with next?

Topshop Australia Confirmed!

Update: The rumour has been confirmed by the Next Athleisure company has obtained the Australian TOPSHOP and TOPMAN franchise rights, and will be opening in December 2011. The first store is set to be the Jam Factory site in Chapel St in Melbourne.

Australian retail continues to go global! After the mammoth success of Zara’s foray into the local market, Topshop may be the newest kid on the Aussie shopping block. It’s been rumoured for some time, but amid new (still unconfirmed) reports that the UK giant is looking at Chapel Street VIC and Chatswood Chase NSW locations, we spoke to Incu who currently stock the line under their ‘Incu Presents’ brand showcase. Incu will be phasing out their retail partnership, with the Sydney store handing guardianship of the Topshop line to their new Melbourne store for one last season (S/S 2011-12, for us), before replacing it with a new boutique line. So, no more Topshop at Incu! Smells to us like the British chain store is doing some serious prep to launch in Oz. We’re yet to hear back from Chatswood Chase reps on this latest rumour, but we promise we’ll keep you in the loop.

Kate Moss to Pull a Carrie Bradshaw for US Vogue

Putting aside for a second the very exciting possibility that Kate Moss may be in Australia right now, there's new details emerging regarding the supe's feature in the September issue of US Vogue. It was confirmed that Mario Testino would be snapping the Mossy's nuptials, but according to Page Six the Moss-Stock spread won't be the end of the glossy's coverage of Kate's wedding. Anna Wintour herself asked designers including Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta and Valentino to dress Kate in their 'ideal' wedding dress. The resulting shoot - which is said to include the John Galliano gown Kate actually wore - is now under heavy security to prevent it being released ahead of the August on sale date. This sounds all very fabulous, albeit very similar to the Carrie Bradshaw pre-wedding shoot from the Sex and the City movie- non?
