And while we're not averse to suffering for our craft, even if that means taking vital minutes out of our day to get the best hair/skin/nails/lashes, there's always that excitement when we don't have to. When Maybelline NY Shine Sensational Lip Glosses ($10.95) landed on my desk, I thought, ooh super bright, super shiny, my little sister would love these. She's eight. But who amongst us didn't start out on the path to Makeup Mecca early. Quite. So I gave her one. That'll stop her from getting her hands on my Chanel lip balm, I thought. Now given that eight-year-olds unabashedly like what they like and hate what they hate, I thought you might like to hear what this mini Bella-in-waiting had to say. For she's an even harsher critic than me, as Justin Beiber would find out if he ever encountered her.

It's yummy. Though I'm pretty certain MNY had no intention of providing a meal replacement, if it's going to be in such close vicinity to our mouths, we don't want it to be disgusting. And this isn't. With flavours like cotton candy, toffee and peach sorbet it'll get you through the 11am grumbles.

It's easy to apply. OK she didn't say this as such. I don't think she would care quite frankly, but given that an eight-year-old can and does apply, quite freely, I think it's safe to say that we could, too.

It's sooooo shiny. Correct. It is. I needed sunglasses with the amount she applied.

It feels nice. I know this because she wouldn't be averse to complaining if not. Trust me.

It's subtle. She wore it at the beach. I did not get glances from concerned mothers that I was letting my little sister dress like a scarlet woman.

I love it. Her words. And mine. What? If she can steal my lip gloss, I can steal hers. It's called sharing.

What it is: St. Ives Fresh Skin Invigorating Apricot Scrub

What it claims: The exfoliating power to reveal smoother, more radiant skin and, not to blow its own trumpet or anything, but it says it "smells amazing."

'Tis been around for a while, Bella, why you just talking about it now? Because it's got a new formulation that now contains 100 percent natural exfoliants and 100 per cent natural apricot extract.

Length of trial period: Old formula: forever; new formula: one week.

Skin state: Not too bad, but the long hours spent hanging around models at RAFW seemed to knock my skin's self-esteem. It went a bit dull, lacklustre and would throw a tanty if it could talk. In definite need of a boost.

The scrub: This falls into the mechanical category; it has a grainy texture (that'll be the walnut shells) that helps work away dead skin and impurities. Great for those who like to feel a product working.

It's the final countdown! Pop and Fab have worked their way through the Urban Remedy Juice Cleanse. Here's what they had to say on judgement day:

Pop: Cue Chariots of Fire music—it’s the final day of my juice-tastic cleanse! I made it without fainting, assaulting someone or collapsing from exhaustion. I’ve been super-productive all week because I’m so focused and healthy. I’ve been sleeping like a baby, the dark circles under my eyes are gone and my skin looks great! It makes me wonder what I could actually accomplish if I gave up my beloved schnitty and sauv blanc for good! I would have Jessica Biel’s body, my script would be finished and my laundry would be done! But like Lindsay Lohan sans SCRAM bracelet, I’m afraid I’ll soon revert back to my old ways. I don’t want my efforts to be in vain, so I’m determined to stay as healthy as possible and will probably do another juice detox before bikini season!

Fab: I feel light, alert and full of energy. I happily drink my juices today and am secretly chuffed that I’ve done as well as I have. I decide to reward myself with a slice of chocolate cake with some colleagues in the late afternoon. Big mistake. On the bus ride home I feel like my body has gone into shock. The clean, light feeling has been replaced with nausea and anguish. I instantly regret it and wish I stuck to the juices for my final day. Overall, I really rate this detox. There were some trying times but ultimately, I felt great all week and much better than usual. In fact I’m struggling with symptoms of feeling sluggish and tired now that I’m back onto regular meals. My only recommendation would be, try the detox in Summer rather than Winter, as cold drinks are REALLY hard to swallow when all you want is warm food and drinks.

Funny you should say that Fab. Urban Remedy is all over. It now has a special Winter Warmer Cleanser than incorporates two soups into the juicing pattern.

Pop: I only have two more days to go and have selected my favourite juice of all time: lemon, water, agave nectar and cayenne pepper. It’s delicious and it’s what you would drink if you were on the Master Cleanse/Lemon Detox diet. It might not sound exciting, but it’s like homemade lemonade with a kick. The only thing that would make it even better would be vodka. But that would be wrong, no? Beyonce drank this stuff for 14 days to prepare for her role in Dreamgirls and lost nine kilos. Surely I can make it through five days. I don’t want to be bootylicious, I want my booty to fit into the jeans I just bought at the sass and bide sample sale. I start singing “One Night Only” from the Dreamgirls soundtrack in my head, but change the lyrics to “Two days only! Two days only!” I’m nearly done!

Fab: The morning juices aren’t cutting it today, all I can taste is grass again. I’m cranky and hungry but keep on sipping 'til I can sip no more. I nibble on almonds to help get me through this difficult day. The whole office is making fun of my juice meals, and although I admit to being hungry, I’ve never felt better physically. I also have to point out that my eczema (which flares up on my legs in cold weather) has been stable all week, which surprises me. Could it be the detox?

Pop: I’ve survived two days and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The heat seems to be broken in our office and pouring cold juice into an already shivering body is a bit of a struggle. I sip away and pretend that I’m at Bondi Beach sunbathing (with SPF 30, of course). I stare at a photo of an Olsen twin for inspiration. I must stay strong. I AM loving my new flat stomach and surprisingly haven’t been missing coffee at all. I feel healthy and think my skin MUST be glowing by now. The sauvignon blanc sludge is slowly moving from my system. I feel like Jodi Gordon. Living a clean and healthy life seems to suit me.

Fab: The weather is still miserable but I’m surprisingly not hating the idea of juice all day. The only real hunger pains I feel are close to lunch and I make up for that by having two juices in quick succession. I sip on water to cleanse the palette and, although I do feel empty, I’m not tired or grumpy. I actually notice my skin looks a lot brighter than usual and am feeling pretty darn good about myself.
