Princess Mary and her husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark may have only been in town for five days, but they sure packed in the action! They kicked off their trip, which was in honour of the Sydney Opera House's 40th birthday, with a public appearance at the iconic landmark on Thursday before they ventured through the Royal Botanical Gardens for a visit to Government House. On Friday the couple made their way to Sydney's inner west where they spent some time at Five Dock Primary School, and later that night they were back at the Opera House for the opening of a special exhibition, Danish Design at the House.
The royals also had a busy weekend, which included a visit to the Australian Twin Registry at the Sydney Children's Hospital and an appearance to help launch the eSmart Homes Digital License on Saturday. On Sunday, they met with volunteer firefighters and people who had been affected by the recent bushfires in the area of Winmalee, and ended the weekend at the Sydney Opera House's 40th Anniversary official reception and concert.
On Monday, there were a few more official appointments and meetings with representatives from Danish export companies, and their time in Australia wrapped up with the 2013 Crown Prince Couple Awards, which saw Princess Mary and Prince Frederik break out their black-tie attire.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has spent the last few days in Australia and to celebrate, we're charting her transformation from regular Tassie girl to fully-fledged royalty. Somewhat surprisingly for a woman in her position, Mary switches up her style with ease, wearing her glossy locks curly, straight, up, down, with hats, crown jewels or a hair barrette for decoration. Makeup-wise she plays things a little safer, but there's no denying that she does us proud flying the Australian flag. Check out 60 of her most memorable hair and makeup looks now.
Without a doubt, one of the biggest songs of 2013 (if not the biggest!) is "Royals" by Lorde. We'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hadn't heard the catchy, beat-driven track, but not everyone will be overly familiar with the curly-haired girl behind the catchy tune. She goes by the name Lorde, and she's full of surprises — not least of all, the age she was when she signed with Universal, and which pop star she's just turned down. Click through for five facts about this cool new kid on the block.
There was a distinct Down Under vibe added to many celebrity events this week — Taylor Swift was snapped looking cosy with Australian actor Brenton Thwaites at the Toronto International Film Festival (sparking rumours of a new little love story), Angelina Jolie and her kids paid a visit to the Sydney Aquarium on a warm day and Nicole Kidman sat pretty in the front row at New York Fashion Week. Also out? Kate Middleton, who stepped out for her first official engagement since the birth of Prince George, and Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, who showed off their love during a trip to New York City. That's not even the half of it — click through to see what else your favourite stars got up to this week!
With the birth of little Prince George earlier this week, we've been in the grip of a seriously strong bout of royal fever. And it's not just the newborn we're focusing on, it's also his unflappable mum, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (better known as Kate Middleton). The thing about royals is that, like celebrities, they have to look picture perfect at all times — and Kate never lets us down.
From long, wavy tresses that outshine the sun, to short blonde crops and pared-back buns, Kate, Princess Charlene of Monaco, Princess Madeleine of Sweden and many more don't skip a beat when it comes to beauty. Whether they hold official royal titles or not (Charlotte Casiraghi, we're looking at you!), they carry themselves elegantly and with utmost sophistication — and that's all part of the charm. Despite all the pressures of the royal baby, William reportedly played a good match against Harry, but the younger royal's team eventually emerged victorious with a 4-3 victory. An executive for the Tusk Trust, the African charity that William was playing for, said that the prince's visit at the match was "a lovely surprise," adding, "We weren't expecting William to be here. He was in really good form."
Ten of Princess Diana's most iconic dresses will go on sale in London on Tuesday at a charity auction. All beautiful, intricate and timeless, some of the dresses are more recognisable than others, having been immortalised by iconic images that stayed with us long past her untimely death in 1997. The navy Victor Edelstein gown (pictured above) she wore to dance with John Travolta at The White House in 1985 is in amongst the mix, as is a beautiful one-shouldered Catherine Walker gown that cemented Diana's status as a style icon in 1991. Though dresses of the late Princess have been sold before, this is the largest collection to go all at once — the proceeds are expected to reach well over $1 million dollars, all of which will go to charity. Prince William and Kate Middleton were as stylish and sweet a pair as ever when they attended The Autumn International Rugby Match at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Kate was wearing a bright red winter coat by one of her favourite labels, L.K. Bennett — it seems she's quite a fan of the bright colour! The rugby game, which was between the Welsh Red Dragons and the New Zealand All Blacks, was preceded by a formal dinner held to honour injured former players. Kate and William both looked to be in high spirits as they laughed and chatted with numerous guests — their last public outing was a more sombre affair.
