We had a lot of beautiful looks to pore over this week, what with a fancy Vogue dinner and the 2013 Cannes Film Festival taking place, but we had to be selective and whittle our list of favourites down to 10. When it comes to the absolute best, no-holds-barred beauty looks of the week, we have to be wowed — and wowed we were when we caught sight of Cara Delevingne's Cannes look. It was dramatic, sexy and could've easily gone wrong. . . but it was so right. Jennifer Lawrence also opted for a bold lip, and speaking of bold, we were huge fans of Nicole Kidman's futuristic ponytail. On the other end of the spectrum was Zoe Saldana, looking better than ever with her face bare and hair au naturel. Click through to see who else made the cut!
There were two designers whose names were all over the best-dressed lists this week: Christian Dior and Prabal Gurung. Their incredible designs were seen on the likes of Nicole Kidman, Diane Kruger, Jennifer Lawrence and more this week, and we've gotta say, we're seeing some of their best work ever. Diane Kruger might be the only star who can pull off a belly-button-exposing top at a high-class Vogue dinner (and pull it off she did), and we were thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence opt for something different after a sea of black during the awards season a few months ago. Olivia Palermo showed prints who's boss, Nicole Kidman earned her mega-star status, and Sienna Miller? Well, let's just say we're glad she's back on the scene. This week saw movie premieres, a magazine relaunch party and a Prada-hosted party — among other events — so needless to say, it was a stylish seven days. Nicole Richie was all-white on the night of an AOL event; her Saint Laurent dress turned heads for all the right reasons and her own head was looking fine thanks to a new 'do. Zoe Saldana was every inch the leading lady at a Star Trek premiere, with her unusual Vionnet gown wowing from all angles, while here in Australia at the CLEO relaunch party, Nikki Phillips gave a lesson on why less is more (especially when Isabel Marant is involved). There was plenty more fashion action — click on to see who rounds out our top 10!
Between new haircuts, updated styles, slicked locks and lots of ombré, hair certainly stole the show in this week's celebrity beauty round-up. Nicole Richie set the pace with her first official appearance since she took a trip down fringe lane (hubby Joel Madden didn't notice — ah, men), while Kate Middleton mixed things up with wavier hair than usual (not to mention that pregnancy glow). But it wasn't all about hair. Isla Fisher totally stole the show at The Great Gatsby world premiere, thanks to her bright red lips and cats-eye liner — see that look and more when you click through!
We kicked off the week with the Time 100 Gala, and the style stakes just kept climbing from there! From Olivia Munn's showstopping marigold dress (will anyone ever be able to wear the colour without us thinking of Michelle Williams' iconic Vera Wang?) to Gwyneth Paltrow's controversial sheer number, the gowns we saw this week were nothing if not dramatic. On the more casual side of things, Kate Hudson gave us a lesson in incorporating hot pink into our wardrobe, Kate Beckinsale suited up and Alexa Chung worked a little shift dress like it was nobody's business. See it all — and much more — in here!
We were spoiled for choice this week, with a bunch of our favourite beauties stepping out with new hair and makeup styles that made us look twice. Jennifer Lawrence stole the show at the GLAAD Media Awards on Sunday, when she debuted a brand spankin' new haircut — looks like even she couldn't resist the lure of the lob! Still on hair, Leigh Lezark stopped us in our tracks with her slick and short new style, and Aussie actress Samara Weaving showed us how to nail sexy bed hair. Samara didn't stop there — her cherry red lip won us over too, and she wasn't the only one rocking a bold lip. See who else did what this week. . .
From natural, fresh-faced makeup looks, to braided hair and bold lips — there's no beauty look our favourite celebrities won't try. Julianne Moore and Constance Jablonski opted for bare faces, and we think they've never looked prettier! Olivia Palermo was all about the braided hair and our cover girl Poppy Delevingne reminded us of just how sexy a red lip (and not much else) can be. There's much more to see — including two stars with fresh fringes — so click through and have a squiz!
Take a flick through our Top 10 gallery this week and you see a pretty obvious colour palette at play. Whether celebrities were on the red carpet or at parties, black was the colour du jour — with a bit of camel and white thrown in to really give off that classic vibe. Emma Watson was one celeb who mixed things up, and her Maxime Simoens dress was a total standout on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet, along with Zoe Saldana's. Kate Hudson kept things fresh and feminine with her seafoam Reem Acra gown, while Karolina Kurkova opted for a more masculine look — which we loved. And Elizabeth Olsen? That girl just oozes effortless cool. Click through to see what — and who! — our best-dressed stars are wearing this week.
With two of Australia's biggest fashion events falling in the same seven-day period, we always knew this was going to be a doozy of a week when it comes to style. The Logies were off first — TV's "night of nights", where our favourite stars get to doll up and wear Oscars-worthy gowns. Some were incredible — and some less so — but Samara Weaving certainly stood out from the crowd, in the best way possible. Joining her on the red carpet best-dressed list? Laura Dundovic and Carrie Bickmore, in their equally impressive gowns.
And then came fashion week. From Aussie models and TV presenters to women who are recognised globally for their style blogs, the streets of Redfern hadn't looked this good since. . . well, a long time. Lara Bingle kicked things off with a cut-out number in her current go-to colour, black, while Nikki Phillips generously contributed to the colour spectrum with her mini-skirt suit set. And the rest of the globe? Miranda Kerr's street style won us over (again) in LA, Solange Knowles did what she does best, and Katy Perry? She toned things down a notch, and we think her dark, feminine ensemble looks divine. Take a stylish step this way to check it all out.
It was hard to take our eyes off the front-row beauty at this week's MBFWA — with a slew of Aussie women stepping out to support local fashion designers, we were treated to all sorts of hair and makeup adventures. From model/photographer Candice Lake's bare face and bold coral-red lips, to Gracie Otto's deep red and Lara Bingle's burgundy version, it was pretty clear that a strong lip is still going, well, strong, while Phoebe Tonkin's smoky eyes and bronzed skin had us keen to recreate the look (BYO divine khaki green peepers). Of course, we couldn't be too biased — some stars in the US also had some ace looks we loved this week! Step this way for prettiness galore.
