2 Fun Ways to Wear the Turquoise Eye Makeup Trend

Turquoise-washed eyes are the perfect way to add colour to a simple makeup look and a big deal in the lead up to Spring, with designers like Oscar de la Renta, Preen, and L'Wren Scott all sending models down the runway with aquamarine lids.

Turquoise-washed eyes are the perfect way to add colour to a simple makeup look and a big deal in the lead up to Spring, with designers like Oscar de la Renta, Preen, and L'Wren Scott all sending models down the runway with aquamarine lids. While it may be a tricky look for most people, the results can be gorgeous. Makeup artist Shalini Vadhera, who has worked with stars like Malin Akerman and Brooke Burke, has a couple of tips to share for getting bold, blue eye makeup right.

  • Ease into it with a sheer: "If you want to get curious about a trend without being committed to it, just use a sheerer version of the colour," explains Vadhera. If you find yourself drawn to a particular shade of turquoise, she recommends using it as a wash across the entire lid, applying with a softer, fuller brush for a sheer application. Complete the look with several coats of black mascara, nude lips and cheeks.
  • Just go for it: Another great way to wear turquoise is by doing the total opposite. Vadhera suggests pairing "a bright pop of turquoise liner across the top lids, or even on the insides of the eye" with gold-toned cheeks and a soft peach lip colour.
