White may be one of the most mysterious colours in the makeup aisle, but we're big fans of the light and bright shade. There are many ways to wear the colour without looking pale or ashy. White and off-white as an accent hue makes your brights even bolder, for instance. See how to use the pearly makeup shade on eyes, lips, and nails when you keep reading.
Nail the Look: J Brand's White Skinny Fit Jeans
White, white, white. The icy cold colour is so hot right now and just FYI, white jeans are the thing to be wearing (just ask Gwyneth Paltrow). While we especially love J Brand's White Skinny Fit Jeans ($292), the colour isn't just dominating the new season drops. White nails had a major moment on the Spring 2013 runways thanks to Rag & Bone, and it's such an easy talon trend to adapt at home. So with a clear picture of Karlie Kloss rocking crisp, clean white nails front of mind, we've got our top five polish picks so you can get the look.
The Chic Minimalist: A Nude and White Colour Story
One of the strongest makeup look to come out of New York fashion week so far is the minimalist. Whether it be nude lips at Victoria Beckham, neutral nails at Zac Posen (and Derek Lam and Thakoon), white nails at Rag & Bone, barely there makeup at Altuzarra and Charlotte Ronson and clean, natural hair at Jill Stuart; this Spring is looking like a beautifully plain one. There's an emphasis on strong brows and contouring on the face, with nude (and matte) nails reigning supreme. In this week's colour story, we're taking our cues from the runway and going back to basics. Just remember that this isn't about no makeup, this is about nude makeup with a dash of dewy, highlighted cheekbones to boot — all hail the minimalist.
2011 MTV Movie Awards: Blake Lively

Blake Lively put on a brave (not to mention beautiful) face, making her first public appearance since the nude photo scandal that broke last week. Blake's rep says that the images are "100 percent fake," but still, it can't be the easiest thing to go through. Blake showed no signs of stress though, looking absolutely flawless wearing a shimmering metallic cream shadow, peach gloss and white nail polish. It's one of our favourite looks, how about you? Do you rate it?

2011 RAFW: Dhini

Butterflies served as inspiration for the hair and makeup look at Dhini. Caterina Di Biase from Heading Out Hair wanted to keep the hair curved to reflect the movement of the butterflies' wings so she tucked up the models hair, making it shorter and worked waves throughout to create texture. She used L'Oréal Professionnel Root Lift Mousse, Play Ball Beach Fizz and Play Ball Deviation Paste to create the look. It was teamed with a dual-colour lip look, comprising of an orange upper lip and a fuchsia bottom lip. The rest of the look was pared back to really let the lips do the talking.

- Hair: Caterina Di Biase for L'Oréal Professionnel
- Nails: CND Brilliant White
2010 ARIA Awards: Jessica Mauboy

Seems like the ARIAs had a tress code: undone glamour. Not only was Lara Bingle rocking some teased tresses to tonight's awards, but Jessica Mauboy too. Jess' high bun is seriously dishevelled, and while it's a style I LOVE for daytime, I'm not sure it's really red carpet ready, are you? She's also gone for a whited-out lip — wonder if her and Bingle got ready together — and matched her mani to the look, veto-ing the stiletto nail in favour of a solid square shape. Jessica's makeup was all about the eyes. Talk about lash-o-rama! The white shadow on Jess' inner V really makes her eyes pop, but it's extended a little too far towards her nose. What do you think about her whole beauty look? Rate it?

Trend Alert: Barely-There Nails Are Big News Right Now

Bold nail colour has been a hallmark of the last few seasons, but it seems 'slebs are staging a backlash. There have been a lot of creamy nude shades popping up on the red carpet of late. In the last few days alone we've seen Victoria's Secret angel Marisa Miller, Ashley Green and Lauren Conrad all wearing a light pearlescent sheen on their digits. If you like the look try OPI Bubble Bath ($19.95) or butter LONDON Tea With the Queen ($19.95). What do you think of the trend towards nude nails, are you loving it or will you stick with your bold and brights?
