Tom Cruise supported his fellow action stars when he dropped by the Star Trek Into Darkness premiere in LA yesterday. He met up with director J.J. Abrams at the after party at AV nightclub and chatted with Paramount Pictures CEO Brad Grey. Meanwhile, the film's star Zoe Saldana created a buzz of her own when she walked the grey carpet in a sheer Rodarte dress. She later met up with an Alberta Ferretti-clad Kate Beckinsale inside the event, as well as her co-stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Jennifer Morrison created a red carpet moment when she dropped by the premiere while wearing an Edition by Georges Chakra powder blue jumpsuit. Also in attendance was Zoe's co-star Alice Eve, who previously told us that she had trouble keeping all the secrets about the Star Trek script to herself.

Tom Cruise hugged, chatted and giggled with his co-stars at the Oblivion premiere in LA last night. He made a Burberry-wearing Olga Kurylenko crack a smile on the red carpet and later shared a big hug with Andrea Riseborough, who wore a glamorous Elie Saab frock. He also flirted with his fans, who had crowded the Dolby Theatre for a chance to see Tom, who signed autographs and even kissed the hand of one woman. Other stars at the event included Game of Thrones knight Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo and Morgan Freeman, who spent his time on the red carpet chatting with Olga and Tom while decked out in a tuxedo.
This was Olga's second big premiere in a row as she attended the screening of To the Wonder with co-stars Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams the previous night. She's had a packed schedule for the past few weeks, travelling the globe with Tom to premiere their film in South America and Europe. While in Germany, news circulated that Tom had commented that he "didn't expect" his divorce from Katie Holmes during an interview on a TV show. However, his rep now reveals that the quotes were entirely fabricated and he didn't address his recent divorce at all. Oblivion is in cinemas now.
Just in case we needed reminding that Kate Middleton is the coolest royal out, she picked up a ping pong bat this week — while six months pregnant, if you don't mind — and had a bit of a game with her equally-sweet husband Prince William. Also carrying babies (albeit, in a slightly different way)? Chris Hemsworth and Victoria Beckham, both of whom carted around their adorable daughters on a day out in Los Angeles — we love seeing celebrities clocking up some quality family time! Elsewhere, Hayden Panettiere set tongues wagging for a couple of reasons when she hit the beach in Malibu, and here in Australia, Jessica McNamee and Lara Bingle were sitting pretty at a pre-fashion week show. There's plenty more — click through to see it all!
Tom Cruise was joined by his co-stars Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko at the world premiere of Oblivion in Buenos Aires, Argentina, yesterday. He wore a suit while Andrea donned an Elie Saab Couture dress. Tom posed for photos with fans on the red carpet ahead of the event, and even retweeted snaps of his Argentinean fans waiting for his arrival. This premiere marks a first for Tom, who has never opened a project in the country. Oblivion's publicity tour isn't over just yet, as Tom will be travelling to Russia to do promotional work before returning to the States for the US premiere.

Tom Cruise is back in action breaking ribs and twisting arms, this time as the title character in Jack Reacher (out today), based on Lee Child's popular series. After years serving at various ranks in the military police, Jack comes out of retirement to help solve a heinous mass murder. When the suspect turns out to be one of Jack's former troopers with a violent past, he agrees to get to the bottom of the case and put the guy behind bars for good. It doesn't hurt that the DA's beautiful daughter (Rosamund Pike) is the attorney asking for his help. Jack Reacher may sound like a cut-and-dry popcorn flick, but there's a lot more to the film that I didn't expect. However, there are also a few things to consider before buying a ticket.
- The opening scene is very disturbing. The movie opens with the crime; the shooter is making bullets in his apartment, and then we see him set up in a parking garage across from a busy walkway, where he proceeds to methodically pick off victims. It's not a traditional action sequence; it's slow and focused and there's no music, just the sounds of the shooter breathing. It's a really intense scene, and it may be difficult to watch, especially given current events.
- It's a mystery movie. I expected Jack Reacher to be straight-up action, but it's much more of a murder mystery. We know who the shooter is from the beginning, but Jack (and the audience) has to put together the motive and who is really pulling the strings. There are are some gun fights and some knife fights, but the movie's strength lies in its challenging narrative puzzle.
